The best way is to stay vocal. You're the only one on the field who can see the WHOLE field. Let the D know where people are. Let the midfield know when they should be coming back, or what lines they should take on runs.....you see everything. So I guess, to answer your question, you have to be pretty good. Your knowledge of the game is very important as you start possession of the ball a lot of the time. Only other goaltending tip (and this is a big one!!) If you're going to come out to challenge, COME OUT!! If you're going to stay and stop the shot, then STAY. Knowing when to be aggressive is very impressive.

Start by calling the coach a woman. She might not like being called a 'girl' if she's over 16. Call her 'coach' or whatever she wants you to call her.

Impress her with.

1. quickness
2. decision making (stay back or come out).
3. clearing the ball (kicking and throwing)
4. catching the ball
5. penalty kick coverage.
6. level headiness. don't get angry if something goes wrong. get better under pressure.
7. teamwork. Encourage your teammates. be a second coach on the field, let them know where the attackers are.

The best way to impress a soccer coach is to be everywhere that he/she is. If you are scrimmaging, be on his team. And make sure you always hustle and try to look like a leader.

Play hard and go the extra mile with everything. Don't be a suck up. The coach will need space to his/her job. If your a keeper, run the laps with the rest of the team. Most coaches hate lazy keepers.
