Sweetie, when the time comes, the vagina will open itself in a process called dilation and effacement. The contractions help to move this process along and when it is time to push the baby out; your vaginal canal will be about the size of a canteloupe at least.

The baby moves down the birth canal slowly and everything stretches out. That's why the baby's head isn't fused together, so the bones of the skull can move over each other to make it an easier fit

I am guessing that you are about 10. This would be a good age to ask your mother about reproduction. When a woman is pregnant, hormones are released which cause the bones to loosen up. When the baby is ready to come out, the bones of the pelvis separate enough to let the baby come out. At the same time, the bones of the baby's head are not fused together and they will overlap enough to let it pass through the pelvis.

the vagina is made of stretchy, spongy skin, which opens when the baby comes into the birth canel. Once the baby is born, the skin goes back. You don't have to put your hand in there unless you like it. ~~

If you truly are a child, then you should be asking questions like this to your mother, or aunt, or any older female that you know and trust. Second, you shouldn't be asking questions like this. You could attract sickos that have nothing but bad intentions. To the people that responded to this in a nasty way: Grow up. It's a kid asking this question, and kids don't know any better. Have some common decency for crying out loud!
If your an adult posing as a child to ask this question, you're sick.

When the time comes, it will stretch to accomodate, although some women liken it to passing a bowling ball through a keyhole

a hormone called "oxytocin" is released which relaxes the vaginal muscles and also makes the vagina more elastic before the birth of a child.
