is there such thing as a P molecule? shouldn't the question be "how many ATOMS of P in one mole of P4?

Yeah, the question is unclear. The number of molecules in a mole of molecules is 6.02 x 10^23. The number of atoms of P4 in a mole of P4 would be 4x(6.02 x 10^23).

First of all, I think you mean how many atoms of P are in one mole of P4. P is not a molecule.
4(6.022X10^23). In other words 4 times avagadro's number, since 1 mole of anything contains 6.022X10^23 of that thing.

yes to the secnond part of your question, but the number of atoms in p4 should be 4 and it would have to part of a particular substance containing P.
