I had a xc meet today and I completely blew it. I was almost two minutes slower than my fastest time there. I just couldn't do it. Is this just a bad race? I feel so ashamed of myself. Dropped back 5 positions.

I run cross country too, and I've had my share of very bad days.
Many things will contribute to your results, such as lack of sleep, a changed diet, or new shoes.
There's no reason to be ashamed because it's only the beginning of the season...you still have tons of time to improve!
Bad races are great for experience...now you can analyze things that you did wrong and make sure not to make the same mistakes again. Often, it takes awhile to get back into the groove of meets.
Have a great season =)

Bad days happen.

Try to think if you did anything different (longer warmup, less stretching, ate chinese food 10 minutes before racing, went out faster, anything). That could have helped cause a bad day.

Most likely, it wasn't your day. Don't dwell on it too long, have a good week of practice and have a good day next weekend.
