Buy a dictionary and actually use it. Learn how to spell college correctly. And then organize. I color coded my folders for each class. For example, green for biology, red for english, blue for econ, and yellow for history. I rarely used 3-ring binders for my classes unless I needed to. And I kept a 5 subject spiral notebook and tabbed each section for classes. At the end of the day I pulled that days notes out and placed them in the classes folders. And always keep your planner/calender with you. You must keep everything from class to social events planned. This way you never forget when a project or paper is due and you'll never forget a date or party.
The day before walk the campus to find out where all your classes will be. On the day of classes try to get there about 10 minutes before class starts. But usually, on the first day of class, the professors will talk about the class and pass out a syllabus with information on when tests, quizzes, papers, grading scale and what books will be needed. Always have a few pens and pencils with you because you never know when that pen stops working.
