I have to sell a vintage Myrtle mahogany credenza. I was told it is solid wood. Another source said it was veneer. How can I verify?

Look at the top. If the top has a design to it--i.e., the wood seems to have a pattern to it, 99 chances out of 100 says it is veneered. I would be VERY surprised if it was solid mahogany. The drawer faces, top edges, etc may be solid wood, but chances are the balance of the carcase is veneer over engineered wood. NOTE: This does NOT mean it's cheap. Go look at what Baker, Councill Craftsmen, Maitland-Smith and Bevan Funnell goes for on ebay...all veneered.
