Yes I have read the book. And Yes I believe it should be a classic.
It is one of (if not the only) surviving piece of literature from a civilians viewpoint on everyday life in hiding from the Nazi Gestapo. I have even been to the 'warehouse' where she lived. Looks more like an apartment building than a warehouse.
The way she writes is stunning and very open. Its a teens view of the world around her and all the crazy things happening. Its almost a one of a kind type of book.

You all just don't seem to "get it". The Diary of Anne Frank is really a first-person authored piece of history of World War 2, and the Nazi persecution of the Jews and how one Jewish girl attempted to evade the death camps. I never actually read it, but I have personal knowledge of the events of the time and place.
The diary is authentic, first-person reporting, NOT JUST A STORY. Definitely a "classic".

It´s a good book. I don´t know whether it should be a classic; but considering it as a historical document, I think yes, maybe it should be a classic from history. I´ve heard is one of the most read non-fiction books around the world.
Well, God bless!

Real life. Real time. A miracle it survived. Too bad Anne didn't but she made a difference anyway. Classic because it shows what hatred can do. We aren't far from it. We all should take a lesson from it.

I believe it is a classic. It is the classic tale of a young girl and the struggles she faces growing up from childhood to adolescence. Locked in an attic of course.

Yes. The subject content alone should make it a must read for everyone. The circumstance that allowed the world to permit the rise of Nazi terror also makes it a must read. Can you imagine a young girl hiding everyday and night, knowing that if she's found out, it most likely means death? And she died!
