It all depends on the size of the fall!
It can be like tiny rest full tinkling, An inviting cool soft whooshing sound, or a MIGHTY ROAR!!!!!!! I went to Niagara Falls in New York State a couple of times and you cannot hear yourself think from the roar of the falls!
I know alot of sounds, doves and loons in the early morning, Cardinal birds in the rain, RAIN, The silence of a snow fall.
Water quietly lapping at a dock on a calm night.
Baby's cooing while they drink their milk/formula
Kids giggling, squealing and arguing on a playground.
The silence of the deepest woods...that isn't really silent!
My dog snuffling herself awake in the morning.
Oh and one time I had a dragon fly land beside my ear to eat a house fly, I could hear the crunch, crunch!! euuuu! But that is nature!

Depends on how big the waterfall is. It could be all the way from a trickling to a deafening roar.
