Morals and ethics are not exactly the same thing. Anyone can have a moral standard, which may be as flexible as "It's OK to do whatever makes you feel good." But an ethical standard requires you to consider whether what you do will affect the most people in the kindest and best way. One moral standard may require that a woman who is seen in public with a strange man be stoned to death, but that wouldn't seem to be a very ethical standard. Americans, for example, follow a wide variety of moral standards... more so than most other nationalities. But many of them may also not be considered very ethical.

What are morals but an ethical code to live by. The further you get away from the inner circle the less I am inclined to impose my moral standards on you - Legalized prostitution is fine, but I wouldn't want my daughter (who is very close to my inner circle) working it. I think the "West", if you are referring to the USA, has a higher standard of moral conduct than many other countries. How about the child sex trade in Thailand? We punish that here.

yes, you could be on to something. But I think you should include the East,North and the South. They took God out of everything yet our money says in god we trust. So where do you expect the morals to go. The country was based on religion they are removing from everywhere. Not just the west:-) Food for thought. :-)

I don't believe you can say the "west" has no morals--I believe people learn differently and have different beliefs. That does not mean that they have no morals that just means they believe different than you=that would be like saying you have no morals because you have a different belief than someone else that may have a different or poorer upbringing.

Kind of hard to square that judging from all of the Christian bashers on this site. The majority of Westerners are Christians; and Christians are by and large a moral population.
