I have known a fire detector to go off like than when no batteries were installed. Stopped when battery installed. Is kind of a signal to let you know u need to add, so detector will work. Dont know what the make or manufacturer was, but it worked. Try it and see.

Probably just an indication beep that it had detected smoke and set an alarm condition. I suggest blowing out the dust, gently, then remove power and then re-apply power. May need a power cycle to totally reset

If your hard wired smoke detector has no battery back-up, I would be getting a new one. Power outage=no power=no smoke detector=Danger !!!!

I've never heard of that - and am a fireman. I'd call the manufacturer of the smoke detector and consider it defective for the time being.

And what do you have to say for it? What evidence can you give that it was worth giving you those 'seconds'? I see life in the seeming small things. Today I cheered someone up, just because I was glad to see the person, and they me. That is worth something, not nothing. I love having those little 'seconds'. Then I complimented my spouse and that was uplifting....another second went by. Fun then to have the seconds.

Many older style can start having problems with dust -- try blowing it out with Dust Off (canned air) from about 6 inches away. Don't get right up in it, you can damage the sensor.

If that doesn't fix it, probably a bad sensor so replace it.
