the major 'energy' component of Red Bull is caffeine. some marathon runners do like to get a caffeine boost during the later miles of a run, and they actually make caffeinated sports drinks for this. I dont think Red Bull will hurt you unless you over do it.
but I would suggest you get your energy boost from carbs. Try a carbo gel pack before you start, and one every hour during the marathon. And always drink water or sports drinks at every water stop.

I don't think whether or not Red Bull is safe is the issue here. Red Bull is safe, but like Gatorade, you get energy for a short time period. After a while, your energy will start dying out. It's like the crash and burn thing after eating sugar. It really depends on how you feel. For short distances, you shouldn't feel any effects, but for longer distances, you might get really fatigued near the finish line, and that wouldn't be good.

I read a newspaper article a while ago about a study of people who drank coffee before going to the gym and it showed that when people drank coffee beforehand, they actually worked out harder than they normally did. It was unclear about how much was in the mind, though. I'd check with a doctor because you should probably get a physical before you try a marathon anyway. Good luck!

The yeast in the beer is what helps, so you can drink any beer really. Though, it might hurt your bladder during the run if you can't go to the bathroom. Drink it at least four hours before the run. An Advil helps me to perform better when I am Jogging.

If you drink one in training, it would probably be o.k. to drink one on race day. Otherwise, it might make you sick. My nephew drank 3 of them before a soccer match and spent the last 5 minutes of the first half throwing it back up.

red bull isn't very helpful for endurance sports. I would try to switch to something like gatorade, or just plain water. They actually keep you hydrated, whereas red bull can dry you out.
You're not going to die, but you're not helping yourself either.
