Its called a lyricist for the writer of words to songs and composer for the writer of music to songs. Or sometimes they're referred to as just a plain old song writer.

You are a composer. A composer synthesizes various chords,staffs, notes,rhythm etc., whether it be writing music notes on a staff or writing song lyrics "composer" is the appropriate term.
