The Scots are not jealous of England or the English. In general, I'd say the average Scot hates the English. There are historical reasons for this, far too complex to go into now. As a Welshman, I support the Scottish view. The English in the 19th and early 20th century forced the Welsh to speak English and denied them access to their own Welsh culture. Thankfully a famous Welshman, David Lloyd George, put an end to this crap, disestablished the Church of England in Wales and gave everyone in UK over 70 a pension. Scotland has it's own parliament and has no need to refer to the English, ever. Yo Blair take note.

The Scots are not "jealous" of England. They have well justified animosity towards the English because England under Edward I invaded Scotland and attempted domination through brutal force. They are proud of the fact that Robert the Bruce eventually defeated England and kept Scotland a sovereign nation. Then after the Union of the two countries the English forced the Scots off their land forcing many to immigrate to the US.
Also, the Scots are proud of their tradition of education and the many contributions Scots have made to Science and industry and literature -- very significant contributions that are all the more impressive coming from such a small country.

What kind of question is that....it shouldn't a matter of one country being better than another IMO. I think England should get off it's high horse and realise that Scotland is not jealous of you lot. I'm sick and tired of all the bad feeling between the two countries. Yeah , I'm all for Scottish independence but really both countries have to grow up.

I think you'll find it is the other way round. A major problem may be that we (the Scots) have an national identity, something the English would dearly like. We (the Scots) also have such a surplus of politicians that not only can we run our parliament we also run theirs. We have free tuition for students, you don't. We have national free travel for the elderly, you don't. We (including our football supporters) are recognised as friendly and accepted socially by people across the world. Sadly you're not.

Why would we be jealous of a nation that most of the rest of the world despises?
Why would we be jealous when our country is obviously far more beautiful?

They arent jealous of england. Theyre still angry that England stole their freedom.
I believe the Irish feel the same way, although they have got their freedom back.
Anywhere in the world you go, they prefer the Scottish, Irish and Welsh to the English.

In fact not many nations like you, hmmm wonder why? maybe it has something to do with the fact that your arrogant and full of your own self importance. Just like your question, as if any Scottish person would even take the time to think about being jealous of the English, i don't think so. It seems to me that maybe your suffering from an inferiority complex because you envy the Scots.
And then you wonder why Scottish people don't like you, it simply because of your attitude, you think your superior to everyone.

the answer is no we are not jelous of anything english its the other way around at least we can look at our flag and never feel ashamed of what we have done in our history apart from giving in to those bloody english ps (creepingrot) the romans took over england and the rest of the world came to scotland and we kicked their heads in and sent them back to rape pillage and plunder a land who were overdue it as far as the rest of the world is concerned

LOL....The Scotts are not jealous of England..... many people are dumb enough too think so but it is just a lie....The Scotts in the words of Brave Heart want one think and that is FREEDOM...they want too be able too decided what is best for the Scottish people.....not England deciding what is best for Scotland....
The English basically feel that if they don't keep a tight grip around Scotland and others of the Island Kingdom that they will lost control of things.....
The English are trying to do the same with the Irish....too, It would be better if they just let the whole of Ireland be free and one country.....But I don't see that happening ...
