Tinnitus is not a disease on it's own. It is usually a symptom of many other underlying disease conditions which could have
been caused by several factors. Considering the discomfort that tinnitus causes it's sufferers, it is important to know how
to cure tinnitus.
The manifestation of tinnitus includes the sufferer perceiving all kinds and ranges of sounds. It could be high or low, and
may occur intermittently or continuously. It could be so disconcerting as to prevent a person from carrying out any
activity or even sleeping.
There are several approaches when attempting a cure for tinnitus. Of prime importance however is determining what the
underlying cause is. All treatment attempts made without isolating the real cause usually ends up being ineffective
When the sufferer visit's the hospital, the doctor tries to determine what the cause(es) might be, by quizzing the patient
to obtain a medical history. Physical examination is also carried out to deduce where the buzz being heard is coming from.
It might by this means be possible to find a quick cure for the condition if the doctor is able to locate foreign bodies,
wax or fluid causing the symptoms. Getting rid of them could immediately bring an end to the discomfort being felt by the
patient. However, most times it is not that easy.

I started having tinnitus 4 weeks ago when I had a bad reaction to an antidepressant, Zoloft, that I only took for 3 days. I went to see an Ears Nose and Throat specialist, who said it is common among people with anxiety, and he indicated that I need to find an antidepressant medication that I could live with, because the anxiety, stress, or depression is the underlying cause of the Tinnitus. He also told me the usual things about playing some white noise from the radio, or running a fan - which definitely works, but of course is not a real solution to the issue.
Bottom line is: Treat the underlying stress, depression and/or anxiety and it will go away. My Ear Nose and Throat specialist setup a second appoint for 2 months from now, but said that at that time the condition might improve and that I don't have to come back. He said they usually don't like to go forward with any specific treatments for Tinnitus unless the problem continues for that length of time or more.

Oh how I feel for you! I have tinnitus myself. Unfortuately, if you dont have a disease connected to the tinnitus( menere's disease) You will have to live with it. I have been trying to find cures for years. Doctors dont know what causes it. I have found that if I lay off caffiene, and dont eat a lot of sugars/alcohol, my ears dont ring so loudly. I sleep with a fan running at night to help drown out the sound ( am sure you already know this) They do sell this natural remedy at GNC stores called "Ring Stop" I tried it but only for a short while so I really dont know how effective it is.
t's rather expensive.
Good luck in your search. If you find out anything good post it on here!!
Was looking around at tinnitus site and found the below site. Very interesting reading!

The answer is yes. It is possible to have tinnitus in one ear. It is the same case with eye problems. Most people have
vision impairment in one eye rather than both. The same applies to ear problems. At times, the ringing may be experienced
in one ear alone. Even so, depending on how loud the noise is, the noises can be disturbing. One way of easing the symptoms
of tinnitus is by educating yourself extensively about the problem.
The noise may be perceived as:
Chirping
Whistling
Hissing
Roaring
Humming
Shrieking
Buzzing

I heard ringing in my ears too, like louder hearing test. It could be tinnitus. Gets louder over time. Use this to reduce the ringing.

There is no cure that I'm aware of, but have read in a medical book that it can be controlled with special hearing aids, my advise if you suffer from this, go and see a good E.N.T doctor.
