I don't know if that is true since we haven't had Libertarians as a majority, but I've seen both Democrats and Republicans listen to lobbyist and give power to corporations. I wish someone in office start to realize this country is BY THE PEOPLE, FOR THE PEOPLE...

Well, your premise is flawed, so the "when they mean" addition makes your question unanswerable.

The libertarian model has government not taking much money from people, and not giving money to people or corporations. So, by making the government small, and limiting the government to just punishing those that hurt others, libertarians take power away from the government and give it back to the people.

Libertarians also generally believe that capitalism works, and that the free market will be enough to keep corporations in check once the government gets out of the regulation and subsidy business. So, companies that make a good product stay in business, and companies that don't don't.

If you consider unregulated capitalism to be "giving power to large corporations", then apparently you either favor heavy government regulation or you favor some economic model other than capitalism. Neither of which are part of the libertarian model.

Which means you apparently don't understand the libertarian model.

the government should be powerless in comparism to the common citizen, but money now buys position and ads on tv. I don't think a Libertarian would ever in his right mind want to give power to corporations, that's not what "Libertarian" means...I am libertarian in some of my views. I would hate corporations controlling the citizens of America just as much as i would hate politicians, the government, and churches from doing it. But Libertarians are simply citizens and voters, they can change things no more than any other common citizen...it is simply a view on life, no more. just as a Liberal believes in controlling the richest among us (by his vote) so that they do not have the power of a king.

The basic premise of being libertarian is that you believe that the less controls on a person the better as long as no person infringes on the rights of others to enjoy their freedoms. I believe the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights are the handbook to Libertarians and the original framers built the ideas of Libertarianism in the foundation of our nation.

What is the government...a bunch of politicians? I would rather think it is all of us with the politicians and our government the servants of citizenry.

The libertarian Party is a tough one to figure out..

A lot of people believe Libertarians are even further to the right than Republicans are; especially when it comes to keeping government out of their personal lives..

But they certainly don't seem to draw the votes than Democrats and Republicans do. If you look at all the candidates they have running for Congress, none of them are eeking out wins in the polls...

I haven't quite figured out where Libertarians stand, and if they really are the "rightest of the rightwing"?

and give it to large corporations? ....that sounds more like what Republicans would do. but anyway giving power to the people is what is needed more in this country, especially during this God-forsaken Bush Administration. we are not happy with the government for the most part, and us (the people) having the power is what democracy is all about

What they mean is, "give it BACK to the people". This country was founded on the idea that we the people govern ourselves. We create a government and lend them power. Not the other way around.

Your ideas are fundamentally socialist in nature, therefore you don't believe that the proletariet has any power without a strong government.. A smaller government means more control to whoever has power to take it in a market economy.
