i'm looking to buy a box truck, and i need the back gate to open tall enough to haul our equipment. i only need a 14' truck, so im not sure how big the opening can get.

There is no "standard" as such. It depends on the box chosen.

A low profile box will have a low door, while a high cube unit will have a tall opening. Roll up doors have lower openings than swing out doors, so that might be an option as well. (roll up doors are opened into a channel in the roof, shortening the inside usable height.)

Go to the Isuzu web site and you should find a truck spec page. You can also buy the truck as a chassis/cab only and add a 3rd party box.

Remember that the higher the box, the more top heavy the vehicle.

Maximum legal height is 13'6", but most boxes on small trucks are only 12'-12'6" from the ground to top of the box.

A small (14') box should be compared to a "cube" van. A diesel powered "cube" van will probably cost less, hold the same volume and be easier to drive.
