Under ideal conditions a "carasius aratus" or Goldfish can live 50 years. This seldom happens in captivity. A "carasius carasius" can live even longer, some surviving up to 75 years old.

a goldfish can live say maybe only 1-5 days but as long as 5 years
It depends on the hardiness of the fish, the quality of the filter, the clenliness of the water, and the quality of the food.

I guess it depends on how to care of the goldfish.Coz if you will not giving them the right food then maybe there's a tendency that they will die early.Thats why they live longer with you coz you take care of them very much.
