Clothing came about not because of a shameful act of Adam and Eve to conceal themselves but humans adaptation to the environment, and when our bodies move from climate to climate, the need for clothing to protect against the elements, heat and cold, etc. We wear shoes to protect our feet from cuts, bug bites, etc. We protect our skin all over for the same reason.
Native and indigenous tribes that still exist wear what little clothing they need. But you have to understand that morality, social ideas, codes of conduct, and religion play a huge part in what rules and "trends" we follow today from ancient times.
You're right, we are used to it, and if we had a vote to allow for public nudism, I would be against it. We are a very sexual species, I cannot imagine all the t & a suddenly on display when walking out my door.

Because:
a) It gets cold out there :-)
b) Our fun parts might end up getting tangled with wayward branches along the way ...OUCH !!!
c) We are too insecure of our own bodies to show them in all their glorious flabbyness out in public.
All that being said, it is rather silly that we feel offended by the naked human body ....take a look at the Janet Jackson Super Bowl incident for example. Don't you think it is simply stupid that more people complain about breasts being shown on TV than about war being shown on TV, I mean, what should be more offensive, the destruction of human lives or the showing of a nipple ???

Like you said I think were just used to it but if you think about it there are several people that I know and have seen that I would not want to see walking around nude. But for the most part it's probably due to the older women wives of politicians that don't want there husbands looking at the younger women.

I think it would be distracting if no one wore clothes. Imagine, instead of dragging toilet paper on your shoe, you might leave some in your crack. Everyone would laugh at you and you wouldn't understand why.
People might ask, "Hey, can I pop that zit on your back?"
And I'd be very, very cold.
Neat question.
I kind of understand why we wear clothes in public. But why do we wear them in private? I'll usually rip off my bra first thing when I get home in the evenings, but why are we conditioned to wear clothes even when we don't have to?

adam and eve didn't "set that trend" they were suddenly ashamed that they were w/o clothes after they ate the forbidden fruit. God said that now all their ancestors would have to work for their food and shelter. they would've had the real perfect life, but hey, its in the bible, "no one is perfect". and no one ever will be.

Actually, it IS shameful not to wear clothes. It shows respect for other people. Plus...it's really gross.

believe me... adam covered himself up (he & eve) when they desende 2 earth from the heavens...
& 99% of the world doesn't like 2 c ur genitles & private areas in public (that's y they're called PRIVATE)...
so... unless ur a naturalist (weirdos), or a non-believer in god (2 know that its a sin 2 do so)... revise with ur mind & think better!
