I don't know. probably make sure they are supervised. Sting rays very rarely sting people. Most people who get stung step on them and are stung in the foot. The steve Irwin is the only case I have ever heard of that someone was killed by a stingray. The reason is that the stringer went directly into his heart. If a kid at an aquarium was stung, it would probably be in the hand. It would e painful but not life threatening or crippling in any way.

They keep the sting rays in very shallow waters, so the sting rays are incapable of harming anyone. There isn't any room for them to sting anyone...

Sometimes they that out the stinger. Other times they give them drugs to counter act the stinger. Or sometimes they the sting ray drugs to make them so tired they can't stinger anyone. In some really bad situations they don't do anything!

I think that those sting rays have been "de-stung" (for lack of a better term), making them safe for petting.

i heard from a friend that works at a zoo that they pull out the barb before putting them in the petting zoo. But if someone forgot, that would be bad...
