I have a recent friend that I've never met in person. We correspond entirely via email and I find myself feeling very free to talk to her about anything at all. It's very freeing and she always has something intelligent and insightful to say in response. I've told her about some very personal things that I haven't told anyone else and she's very accepting even though she really doesn't say too much about herself personally. It feels great to have someone to talk to about my emotions and my love life and intimate details but it also feels a little odd to be spilling my guts to someone I technically barely know. I don't have any close girlfriends to talk to right now.

Has anyone else out there had a relationship like this? If so do you think I should try and meet my friend or should I keep it online?

That sounds like a nice type of friend to have. It's really up to you if you want to meet her or not - right now you are able to talk to her about anything because there is something anonymous about your friendship. When you meet, it could go great and the two of you get even closer or it could head south and you will find yourself not wanting to be that close with her.

I had and do have a male friend like that.
Needless to say that I scared the h... out of him!!!
Well, it is slightly abnormal what you do. If she is a she, it is okay. I am worse. :))
In any case, it helps to be 100% open to someone during hard times. The only problem with this is that you have to pay attention whom you trust... make sure it is the right person and why not meet?
