Well i was at my friends house listening to Green Day (Billie Joe Armstrong is sooo hot) but as we listened i noticed that the "American Idiot" was well making fun of the Americans. well and then they wrote a song about the 9/11 attack. so im getting the mixed signs on green day do they hate us or like us or a lil of both? Now if any Green Day members or fans read this i dont hate green day i just want to make sure i dont get the wrong meaning i say "ROCK ON GREEN DAY!!!!"

I think they were just trying to make a point that it's the government and about the war that is bad not all the Americans because they are American themselves so i think that really the song was written about Bush and well the government and also the war and how they felt . I think green day rock as well.

Green day is not makin fun or hate the american people. Listen to the songs twice and you'll see what the whole idea of the songs are. Here's a hint... i don't know how old you are but did you ever hear about the war in irak? american idiot came out just after that dumb-*** war the americans fought over there so... let's put it this way, they are really makin fun of the american actions taken on a world scale.

Now in relation to what I just said if you listened to "Holiday" live you would hear Billie Joe Armstrong say and I quote, "We're not anti-American we're anti-war" end quote. It is talking about how America can get caught up in silly things like the media and trends and unimportant stuff. We should concentrate on more imortant things like world povert the enviroment etc. It is good that you took note of what the lyrics were saying to. I love Green Day too.

Actually, Billy Joe wrote that album while watching the Iraq invasion on TV. His friends dared him to release it.

The love the american audience that pays to see their shows & buy their cd's.
I think it was more an expression of how they felt about the situation as a whole instead of a straight diss to americans.
