Austin, TEXAS - the DUDYA's home state has a gay friendly city. In fact Austin has always differed from its conservative sister cities. THhe bohemian feel is more Woodstock than Waco. New York, New York- The capital of the world is also the capital of gay life. Sure it's got its ghetoos, but in every neighbourhood you're bound to find a gaggle of gays. The bars and clubs are too numerous to list and the social and cultural scene is unparalleled.
San Francisco, California- it's the NEW YORK OF THE WEST. IT has innumerable resources and activities. Not to mention the gay and lesbian population is an estimated 27%! Talk about being in good company.
Washington, DC- Two words, DUPONT CIRCLE. It's the gay center of the city and a cute neighbourhood in which to hang your hat. The city boasts great gay newpapersl like The Blade and MEtro Weekly.
Los Angeles, California- THe sun! the celebrities! what's not to love? And to those who say LA has no culture: think about the OUTFEST sponsors LA's gay and lesbian film festival. one of the best in the country. Politics are liberal and the rent hasn't caught up with New York City.
FOrt Lauderdale, FLorida- The sunshine state has anothother homo city (aside from MIami). It is the new must see city. It has more gay bars per capita than any other city in the country.
Seattle, Washington- They must be lying about the rain to keep people away from the city in the shadow of the space needle. The Seattle sun shines often and brightly. Plus awesome skyline.
BOSTON, MA- A city of clolleges fosters a gay communityh humming with fresh and vibrant energy. Boston has culture and wicked scene.
Chicago, IL- Midwest conservative--- I dont think so... THe last time i heard chicago elected the first openly gay alderman to the city council, If you can weather the wind and snow, what's not to love. Oh yeah, they have the Chicago Gay and Lesbian Hall of Fame
Portland Oregon- Gay owned and gay friendly businesses can be found throughout the city, not just on Stark Street. It you like a diverse landscape, portland is the place for you. It's the perfect city for the outdoors type.

Usually the bigger the city the better. Also, the coastal cities tend to be better. If you're looking at a place more inland the only one I know of is my new hometown of Columbus, OH. The state is really homophobic, but the big cities here have a strong LGBT community. Multiple GLBT organizations and bars, etc. There's even a youth BTLG organization here. Around "campus area" there's a lot of houses with rainbow and HRC equality flags hanging.

San diego, CA ; its a great gay friendly town. they have there own neighborhood, (hillcrest) and most of the gay bookstores, video places and clubs are in this area. Also gay owned bussiness, bath houses, you name it.
Also the Military is there. Navy, Marines and Coast guard, oh my. The ratio of men to women is 2 guys for every one girl.

lots of places on the west coast are. sanfrancisco, portland, seattle are all REALLY gay friendly. i have also heard good things about college towns like madison,wi and columbus, oh. dallas and austin supposedly have good gay communities... though i'm sure you run into bigots eventually wherever you end up.
