I had low blood iron, and took iron supplements- the doc told me to drink OJ with it, because Vitamin C and OJ worked well together. Deep leafy greens like spinach and kale, and lean red meats in your diet will help a lot. I'd at least start taking an iron supplement. Total cereal has a lot of iron in it, too.

I am also anemic and take iron (aka ferrous sulfate) supplements twice a day. However, you should only take iron supplements under guidance and with dosage recommended by your doctor. Taking too much iron can cause permanent damage to various parts of your body. Note that while most green leafy vegetables are good for iron absorption, spinach is actually an inhibitor.
YOU SHOULD NOT TAKE IRON SUPPLEMENTS IF YOU ARE BREAST FEEDING YOUR BABY.
The first link below is more information on iron and its impact to the body. The second is a website with iron rich diet information.

If you are Anemic then you more than likely got that Diagnosis from a Doctor . That being said then I think it best you ask your Doctor regarding any special foods or diets. I work at an Oncology/Hematology office and Anemia is not something that you should ignore (not saying you are) but it is best that you ask your Doctor, and have regular blood checks such as a CBC.

Like others have stated, meats and spinach are both good sources of iron. Some breakfast cerals have fortified iron. I read a while back that if you take iron w/ Vit.C (oj, etc) that it helps increase the iron absorbtion rate. Supplements are also great but know they can be highly constipating (either Iron alone or multivitamins w/ Iron). So watch your system and increase fiber & water if you notice constipation.

Take an iron pill, for starters. Add lots of protein to your diet. Iron is what you are lacking, so search online for foods high in iron. Did i say Iron? Yes, IRON.
