First, let's check your Sound device. Right Click on MY COMPUTER, and pick PROPERTIES. Pick the Hardware section and click on the DEVICE MANAGER button. View the devices. None should be shown with a red or yellow flag. You should see the yellow speaker ICON with the workds Sound, Video and GAME Controller. If there are any problems, then look for the sound card driver. Visit the manufacturer website or http://www.driverguide.com

If your driver seems OK, then go to the Control Panel, and pick SOUNDS and Multimedia. You should see a checkbox next to the words "Show Volume Control on the Task Bar". Check that box and you are DONE.

The little yellow speaker should appear near the CLOCK on the task bar. Click once to get the volume control to popup. Then move the slider up and down.

Hey, maybe your speakers are not plugged into the GREEN jack on your computer. Or maybe they are not powered up. Look at the volume knob on the speakers themselves.
