Not a penny of the proceeds go to us, instead they go to sweatshops in . You say that I am not supporting the troops when I say that they should come home. But I am, because I know that there was no threat to our nation from Saddam Hussein, I know that had no weapons of mass destruction, & I know that we were not welcomed in as liberators. I know that the war was not worth fighting. I know, because I fought there. You say I’m confused. But what do you know about ? You’ve never been there.
So which one of us supports the troops? You, who has never set foot in Iraq & wants to leave my brothers & sisters there until they complete whatever the undefined mission of the week is, or me, the veteran of this war who has seen the carnage of battle, the rampant indifference of my countrymen, and just wants to bring my brothers and sisters home alive and care for them when they get here?
Will the Republicans disagree with a vet
who fought IN Iraq or back their AWOL Presidunce?

You make a stronger case than I ever could. I served in the Navy between the two Iraq wars, and also leave posts disagreeing with this horribly wrong action in Iraq.
I get called lots of names, I bet you do too!
-why do you hate America?
-f-en liberal.
-the list goes on.
Thanks for the post...hopefully people will wake up...but they won't, you know it.

You are right that no money goes to you and you are the nations hope for our country with out you our nation wouldnt be safe..Saddam Hussein didn't have weapons we just went there so Bush can have his oil..I think that people who fight for the country and there familys are the one that is supporting our troops.I think our president should take our brother and sisters out of the war because what are we fighting for we aint fighting for there freedom we are giving what Bush wants the most power and oil..Why should we fight for them when they can fight for there selfs and try to make a differencce for them and for there country if they combine they can make stuff happen and our troops would never be there and no family will lose somebody that they love and never get to see for a years ..I gave u my opion and ur answer so i hope u like what i wrote if u dont am sorry.

Great question! I have always wondered how the spin-meisters were and are still able to justify the u.s. occupation of Iraq under the guise of stopping wmd's from further hurting this country. This said, we are now attempting to "liberate" Iraq and in the process throwing countless young men, both U.S., British and others in harms way. For what? Osama bin Who? From what I am allowed to read, Osama has placed himself in Afghanistan. He has taken a back seat to the much heralded war cry, The War on Terror." The U.S.A. is seen by many others throughout the world now as a "predatory " nation. We move in under the most transparent reasons shouting "we will liberate you and bring democracy into your lives!' Has anyone stepped back and asked themselves, does this country want the American way of life? I support the troops with all my heart, just not the mission for which they place themselves in harms way on a daily basis.

I don't know where to start either, but I will say that I've done my own time in service & I'm certainly not putting down your service or your views.
However I will say that no matter which war, or conflict, we are involved in....there will always be a wide spectrum of opinion. All should be respected as we are all Americans, & I take exception with the tone of your almost order that I shape up & see things from your perspective or get out of your way.
You have no idea what I know, or what I don't, & you don't know my service record. I would ask that you use less generalization in your remarks and not lump everyone into the category of someone who is presenting an opposing view-point with supposedly antagonistic intent.
My political affiliation is also nothing I wish to discuss, but I disagree with you as one veteran to another.

sorry, but I have heard from those who fought in Iraq who say just the opposite. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and two who observe the same thing can still have differing opinions. I am not there and cannot say what goes on there, but I know this. Our president is not perfect, there has been a lot of traumatic events since he has been in office- not a one of us can say that we would have done a better job or handled things any different or better because we don't have ALL of the facts and full understanding, only what the media feeds us and from my experiences with Katrina the media is the MOST unreliable source of information there is. None of us are perfect-
How can we support our troops, show them respect- no matter if we agree with what they are doing or not- they are doing their job- they are human beings and deserving of the same respect we want to be treated with. Respect their families, help out the wives of those who are fighting in Iraq- the ones with children who are pretty much like single moms- babysit, clean house, give them a day out. Send care packages, etc.
you ask who will I believe- well who should I believe ? One who has been in the same circumstances and tells a contradictory story? It is not about who I believe because the soldiers there are not privvy to all of the information and are not knowledgeable about everything in every area of the war either.
Regardless of the circumstances, who is right, who is wrong- right now , it is what it is- this is what is happening and no amount of complaining, name calling, disrespect is going to change it or change what has already happened.
We do what we can and we pray.
I cannot say that I will agree wit hEVERY decision our president makes, but I will respect the office of authority. And I will tell you one thing, I am more likely to listen to and take into consideration people would show respect even in disagreement than those who resort to childish kindergarten playground name calling and whining, demeaning the office of authority and showing outright defiance rather than dealing maturely with the problem.

The questioner states that he is quoting a veteran of the war -- and we have people calling him naive, people disrespecting him and one jerk who either didn't read the comments or has the reading comprehension of a chimpanzee --
These people have no respect for someone who put his life on the line and need to take a good look the mirror, what a disgrace.

I HATE those stupid magnets. You spent $0.50 on a piece of garbage to put on your car and try to make a statement - but what have YOU done to support the troops? Do you send care packages, letters? Will you vote Republican again next election and to KEEP our troops there? WHY? So America's Sons and Daughters can die, along with Iraq's sons and daughters for no GOOD reason?

Your sentiment doesn't seem to fit with the vast majority of vets coming back from Iraq. So, agreeing with you would be disagreeing with a larger amount of vets who fought IN Iraq.
