Wikapedia and other sources will help you to know the history of soccer. Don't let anyone tell you that soccer is an American name. If you study long enough you will find that it was first called soccer in England to differentiate from the form of football now commonly called rugby. American football came out of the same mold. However, most English began referring to soccer as football later in its development. Some soccer snobs, nay football snobs, want to make this a strange bone of contention against American football.

Go to research. Type soccer. Click on wikipedia and click on search. Should give you most of what you want.

Alternative is to go to the library. Ask the librarian to help you with an encyclopedia or a sports book on soccer.

You should learn how to do your own research with questions like this.
