My daughter Anna is 3 1/2 months and yesterday she pooped a dark runny olive green color. Today it was the color of wet conctrete. I had been breastfeeding but over the past 2 weeks or so have mostly switched to formula. Her poop had been normal until yesterday. I don't think she's sick because she's acting fine. What's going on?

I ALREADY KNOW IT'S GROSS! That doesnt help me! I figured it was just the change in food, but my son never had dark gray poop... Maybe because he was older when he was switched... more tolerant?

I don't know why people open this question when they very well can see the Subject being about "poop" and then get disgusted by it. Anyway, yeah, I agree with 'babysister' it's just her body adjusting. She'll be ok, just like you said she's not really sick. But I'll give it a few more days and see what happens. But then if you have any hesitations, switch back to breast milk.

I too am going throught the same issues, my daughter is 2 months and we recently started on formula. It's perfectly normal for the color to be anywhere from cement color to light yellow, dark green and still golden yellow. It won't be as seedy anymore, like it was when you were bf. but it will range different colors now.
It's ok, and don't be surprised, you won't get as many poopy diapers with formula as you did while you were bf either. breast milk is a natural laxitive, pretty much once it goes in it comes out, formula is not the same way. takes a little longer to digest.
hope this helps.

It's normal. Both of my sons were formula fed and had green poop. A baby's digestive system is very sensitive, and reacts to every new food or formula introduced to it. Colors to watch out for are black or white poop. I know it sounds strange, but black means there's internal bleeding and I can't remember what white means, but it's bad. Just wait until she starts eating raisins and carrots and other things that come out whole. Pretty soon she'll have a regular old rainbow in her diaper. :)

Hideous dark evil tar-like green. Merconium or something it's called.
Then once it starts drinking milk it enters the "Mean Mr. Mustard" phase. That looks nicer sort of grey poupon-ish, but is stinkier.
When the baby starts solid food the dipers reveal what can only be described as a product of hell. It looks and smells really vile.
When you switch back and forth - then you can get a little variety. I think your little angel is going to be ok.
Enjoy!

There is nothing wrong with your baby. I worked at a daycare center for five years and I saw a lot of poop from a lot of babies. You will notice more changes in her poop as she gets older and starts eating different things. You will be able to tell when she has eaten certain baby foods by her poop. Don't worry!

yes I just recently stopped breastfeeding my 1 month old and the same thing is happening..it will be a mix...they tend to get more formula then breastmilk so sometimes it turns that color because of the increase in food also

The change in her diet is going to make her poop change also. Just cause you swithced to formula 2 weeks ago doesn't mean it was all out of her until now.

Formula will greatly thicken her poop, and the color should become consistant. She's fine, just adjusting to the new food.

Oh I'm positive it's just from switching her to formula. Give it a week or so to regulate, if you're really concerned though, ask your doctor!

My son's feces did similar after I switched him to formula. If it doesn't go away with in a few weeks, call your baby's doctor.
