The Alchemist Tale

Good book with a good moral lesson about following your dream. The author is Pablo something. It was just re-released this summer so it should not be difficult to find.

every great novel is life changing in some way

my favs

Walden --Henry David Therou--made me want to buy a farm and live in a tiny cabin (still a dream)
Dharma Bums and On the Road-- Jack Kerouac--made me more outgoing wanted to meet people wherever I went
The Art of War --Sun Tzu--gave me a greater understanding of the world
Howl--Alan Ginsberg--made my heart sing and my mind cry
Catcher in the Rye--JD Salinger--made me realize the futility of most authority
In Cold Blood--Truman Capote--made me want to write like that
The Merchant of Venice--Shakespeare--made me appareciate how truly great the man was.

but most of what i read has changed or improved my perceptions of the human condition in some way. the best thing is to keep reading. no matter what it is.

Life of Pi, by Yann Martel.

As a character states in the book - it's a story that can make you believe in god (or at least, the human spirit).
