Tailback/Halfback
An offensive player who lines up in the backfield and generally is responsible for carrying the ball on run plays. A running back's primary role is to run with the football, he is also used as a receiver at times.

A tailback is a back that can recieve alot of passes, can run the ball, sometimes throw the ball, protects the quaterback....This back is usally the back furthest frome the qb in the I formation.

He runs with the ball after the quarterback gives him the ball.
He blocks for the quarterback on pass plays.
He catches the pass from the quarterback.
He fakes the defense on play action pass plays.
He scores touchdowns.
But he can also tackle the defensive player once they get the ball on a turnover.
Other than that he is just one of the eleven players on offense.
Just like Ladanian Tomlinson (LT) is just another running back.

Stands behind the QB and takes hand offs...then he runs for the end zone...He also catches passes from the QB and blocks for him...
