Going It Alone In London..?

Right, there's a University Open Day tomorrow in the middle of London which i'd really like to go to, and it's the last one, only thing is my parents are working and my friends are alll busy so i'd have to go alone. I'm sort of familiar with London and the underground, but im not sure on my own....Do i risk it and travel in alone (an hour train journey then tube) or play it safe and stay home??

There's not much risk unless you're wandering about the streets at night or going down alleyways. Especially if you've been before. You'll be fine.

Take a book with you and if you need to look at papers/directions put them in the book to hide them so it's just like you're sitting reading your book.

The only thing is, if you're getting Taxi's don't hail one off the street. Make sure you phone one even if you have to wait.

London isn't that scary, it's just like your town only with a lot more people so, more oppertunists. So just be aware and stay in well lit/ busy places. Common sense will get you through

The tube is so busy during the day there will at least be plenty of people around.

So go for it!

If you are worried you can always stand near a doorway or near staff at the station.

Well if you do go, make sure you plan the whole journey well in advance so you know exactly where you are going, what train, what platform, etc.

I say this because standing about reading a map is the London equivalent of wearing a sign on your back that says "RAPE ME".

its safe travelling alone in london..one cannot get lost and its fun !!!
i was in uk last month and went around london for a week , tavelled on the tube and explored ..its gr8 !!
