I'm replacing some trim and am considering purchasing this nail gun:

(Craftsman 27233 Professional Electric Brad Nailer)

http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/product.do?cat=Portable+Power+Tools&pid=00927233000&vertical=TOOL&subcat=Brad+Nailers+%26+Accessories&BV_SessionID=@@@@1531630926.1158095704@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccidaddildgefddcefecemldffidfko.0

Is this a good one to buy?

Naw! You can get a nail gun for 80 bucks or so, that will last just as long.

Brads arent that big of a deal. Any elcheapo would do for that! (Just because Craftsman sells a "professional" brad nailer, doesnt mean its better than anyone elses...its just called that because it is more durable on the outside, but, on the inside, they have the same equipment that any "professional" such as DeWalt or any other brand name has).

I would go to Lowes, and then check out other local places for those that sell brad guns, and you will find they are a lot cheaper. Harbor Freight has some for a lot less than that, and they will hold up for a long time.

Unless your a "Professional", and even if you were, you would "know" not to buy craftsman, but to buy DeWalt or any other brand name!! Craftsman isnt what they used to be, the quality has gone down in the last 20 years or so.

I wish you well..

Honestly.... if you are only replacing some trim, and this is a one time event... just go rent an air compressor, and brad gun... it'll be cheaper, and you'll have the benefit of a much better quality nail gun to work with.

If you plan on doing trim work as a job... invest in a small compressor, say 2 hp, 2 gallon tank, and a good brand nail gun (Senco, Paslode, Stanly/Bostitch, even Campbell Hausfeld makes a decent gun). The air guns will run about $60 to $90, depending on which one you get, but you will get much more mileage out of one of these, than that little electric job at Sears.

Sears USED to have excellent tools. And a great warranty to back them up. But since KMart bought them out... more and more of their product is of lesser quality, and doesnt have the "lifetime" warranty anymore. Read the fine print. They admit it.

Have Fun!

Heavy-duty 15-amp drive coil quickly drives one fastener per second. Features soft-grip handle. 100-fastener capacity. Includes carrying case. 8-ft. 3-wire cord. UL listed. Imported. Warranted.

Pros
seemed like a god idea for someone with no room for an air compressor

Cons
only good if you have no nailing (or bradding) to do

Full Review
Worked well during random gentle use over 1 year. When I tried to do some real trim work with it it failed. Lost all of its kick...Sears wants $68 base fee to fix. This is a toy and the customer service response I get from Craftsman is pap nonsense. I think I have probably put about 250 brads through this thing and that works out to about 50 cents per brad. I am a tool guy who will not visit Sears again.

I use the cordless ones. I have a Paslode and a Senco. The Senco I got on EBAY, brand new for almost 200 and it's the best finish nailer I ever used. Craftsman does put out a good one but it doesn't last as long. Whichever one you get, just make sure it's a good namebrand.

Craftsman is a good brand and they will replace it if there is any problems for a life time. That is on any tools by craftsman.

My husband uses craftsman and he has had to replace them to and he had no problem what so ever replacing it.

$150.00 is a good price for a trim gun.

Don't buy anything electrical from Craftsman. Their tools are ok, 100 % guaranteed. Any power tools are a poor investiment.

If your just doing a one time job, or even maybe once in a blue moon. I would go to Harbor Freight, they have air tools for the weekend warrior. Tools are inexpensive and if you want you can even buy extended warranty.

Depends on the nail gun. I looked at other brands online and they are running anywhere from 139.00 up to 239.00 dollars. Sears is a great brand for tools. Check with them about their warranty. I believe it's a good one.
