The hymen, which is the fold of mucous membrane stretching across the vaginal opening, is found mostly in a virgin. There is a small opening at the centre of the hymen, which allows the flow of menstrual blood during menstrual cycle. At first coitus the hymen tears, allowing penetration of the penis and is usually accompanied by slight bleeding.

However, a presence or absence of a hymen is not an indication of virginity or lack of it. A hymen can tear in an unmarried woman if she is an active sportsperson or a dancer. A woman can even have intercourse without tearing or bleeding because of a lax hymen. Absence of bleeding at the time of the first intercourse should not therefore be misconstrued as lack of virginity.

Many girls and teens tear or otherwise dilate their hymen while participating in sports like bicycling, horseback riding, gymnastics or inserting tampons, or while masturbating. A girl may not even know this has occurred, since there may be little or no blood or pain involved when this happens. The tissues of the vulva are generally very thin and delicate prior to puberty. The presence or absence of a hymen in no way indicates whether or not a female is a virgin. "You are a virgin until you have sexual intercourse."

Blood comes while the hymen is forcefully broken for the 1st time. Hymens may be stretched or maybe broken by ability of activities which incorporate tampon insertion, horse driving and masturbation. NO Blood does not recommend the female worried isn't a virgin. comparable as blood does not a virgin make ( that's faked) a girl can get pregnant the 1st time she has intercourse, no rely if there is blood or not. And no rely if she is a virgin or not.

although you were a virgin until your wedding night... your hymen may already have been broken. this is what normally bleeds during first intercourse... a womans hymen can be broken doing anything rigorous that jostles the body such as: horseback riding, quad runner riding, mountain biking, an auto or biking accident, things of that nature.

nothing to worry about but i would encourage you to get a pap smear and pelvic exam every year now that you're sexually active.

congrats on your marriage.... best wishes to you and your husband.

your hymen (what tears and causes you to bleed after you lose your virginity) can tear away at ANY time in your life, not just when you have sex for the first time! go online to a women's health website or get a gynecological health book and show your husband! it could've torn while you were riding a horse, a bike, took a particularly strange and hard fall, or at any other time doing normal activities.

no, your hymen could have already been broken either by using tampons, excersize or any number of things....its not unusual and the practice of determing virginity by 'blood' or the breaking of the hymen during the first intercourse is archaic and never has been a foolproof way of insuring this. your husband will not think bad of you if he not only knows you but also makes sure he knows the truth about this.

I'm not a Dr but I do not think it is anything to be concerned about. I have heard of other women not bleeding during a gentle First intercourse. Your husband sounds like a keeper .. He'll understand, but if you are concerned you should call and ask a DR or nurse. They will tell you.

the older you are when you lose your virginity the less likely you are to bleed. Your hymen could have been broken at an earlier date (during vigorous physical activity or injury) and you did not know it. When I lost my virginity I had the slightest spot of blood, and it did not bother my husband one bit!!

I'm not a doctor, but I didn't bleed my first time either. It's no big deal. Your hymen could have broken at any time over the years... excessive exercise or horseback riding or lots of different ways. Don't worry about it.

Well you sound older so your body is fully developed and not every woman bleeds after having their hymen broken.

Do not worry. If you are continuing to worry than tell your husband how you feel. You're married now and should share everything with him.

Thats ok....not everyone has a hymen (the thing that tears and thus results in blood). If you did have a hymen, maybe it tore at an earlier time.
