1. Sea turtles make horrible pets- are you talking about another kind of turtle?

2. Turtles grow pretty slowly, but if a turtle is not growing, then it is usually a diet problem. Feed it right and house it right and it should be OK.

3. Aquatic turtles don't walk for exercise- they swim. Hence the need for large tanks for turtles.

4. Losing a turtle on a walk, especially a slow sea turtle, is pretty irresponsible.

5. Walking and posting to Yahoo Answers when you are supposed to be watching a turtle is also irresponsible.

First of all sea turtles are on the endangered/protected list and are not availiable for pets. If you really have one, don't tell anyone especially online because you are in violation of several conservation laws and is punishable for time in the pokey, and a huge cash fine up to $10,000 grand. My uncle is a game warden so I know about wildlife conservation laws.

Steroids? I dunno, I'd say let nature take it's course, nothing good comes from trying to fix something that's not broken. Just make sure it's getting all of it's necessary nutrition, like lots of direct sunlight (or a UVB light), maybe a sulfa block for the water, and the right kind of food. Seeing as you've raised a lot of turtles, I'm sure you don't need my advice, but I might as well try to be of help :)
