I'm British & my fiance is a NZ citizen. We both live in London (her on a work permit). Both of us have not been married before. It is the UK side of things that I am interested in, we are sorted from an NZ perspective.

No. You CAN file a notice to marry at your town hall, but the only people I've seen do this are those marrying in Europe where the other country requires it.

I looked this up recently - I think you may need a Certificate of Non-Impediment which may have to be certified by a Public Notary and possibly by the Foreign Office - to show you are free to marry her. If as you say, you have already dealt with all that side of it, then as far as I understand, there is no obligation on you to register your marriage in England and Wales, but you can do so if you wish. Your marriage will be valid in England and Wales provided it has been carried out in accordance with New Zealand law.

why would you leave NEw Zealand for London town, having been to both, geez NZ rocks! You'll need all your docs mate
