Ive heard that placing pennies on the temples of your head cures headaches, and if you've ever tried this, you'd know that they do stay in place without any glue, tape or anything of that sort, and that it works. My question is, why exactly does this happen, and why do they stay in place only if your head actualy hurts?

P.s. it also stays on my forehead, but i dont know if that cures anything.

they stick because of the surface of your skin is porous and it also releases small amounts of oil which help the pennies to stick. as for the pennies helping to relieve headaches...not likely, its probably just psychosomatic....pennies are no longer made of copper either, i say that because some ppl believe that copper helps everything from arthritis to headaches but there have been no scientific data to prove it. stick with aspirin, tylenol or use some of the topical pain relievers like aspercreme they help...just don't get it in your eyes.

Because your skin has oils on it that a penny, paperclip, tissue, stray hair, or anything else small, for that matter, can stick to.
