Did you forget to attribute the quote to Einstein?
He rightly said that imagination is more important than knowledge.
“Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.”
And I fully agree with him.

I wouldn't say one is above the other; they go hand in hand. Knowledge cannot be considered a base for imagination because things have to be imagined before they become a thought that turns into something known. Likewise, most things that are imagined stem from prior knowledge and thought. It's a circle.

I think it depends upon the lifestyle you lead. If you write children's books for a living then you probably need more imagination that vast amount of knowledge. I've picked up the hobby of illustrating books and it requires a huge amount of imagination. Knowledge is still needed though...how do you think I'd know how to draw a duck if I didn't know what a duck was? I think they go hand in hand. To have one, you have to have the other, no matter what career path you're on. The question is...which one do you need more of and do you fit that role?

But you can't have an imagination without having knowledge.

Knowledge is more important to me. Imagination is good for when I want to rest my brain.

Imagination is more important, simply because it's not limited.
