Be very honest about the reasons that you want him to leave you alone (without expressing it in a hurtful and insensitive way).
Use the old line that "its not you, its me". If he still wont leave you alone, be a little bit more aggressive (even if you have to be a little mean) about making it clear that you are not interested in him.
If he still wont leave you alone try to avoid him entirelly, he will eventually get the message.

Just tell him simply, "You're a nice guy but I'm just not interested." Don't give him any hope that this might change later, unless you think it will. Be firm, but not mean. And if he's just someone on the internet, block his messages/emails, etc. He'll think you aren't interested, which you aren't. Right?

Hope this helped.

What does it mean to be "mean?" If someone if bothering you or bringing about unwanted attention it would certainly be reasonable to tell him that you don't appreciate his company. Of course, you don't want to be a jerk about it and if really likes you there's no way to avoid the inevitable pain he may feel, but regardless he is in no position to make you feel uncomfortable.

Be very honest. Tell him you are not interested but that you would just love to be his friend. Honesty is the best way not to hurt someone!

It doesnt work that way. You have to be really patient and ignore him, it could get better, it could get worse. If it gets worse you should be mean, or call the cops

just tell him upfront. don't say, "you're a nice guy but i just want to be friends." because he'll still try to come around you. just tell him that you don't have anything in common and you don't want to see him again. some guys like honesty.

just ask him if there's something on your face, then he'll know that you're no more than friends. then if he still bugs you, tell him that he needs to back off and that he needs to find some different more "his-type" peeepz!
