I had an online chat with a guy i use to date. I broke it off with him. We were chattin and he told some things about these 2 girls he is scamming on at work. He is not a nice person tis why i broke it off. would i get in trouble legally if i sent one of the girls the archive of the chat?

That's a pretty immoral thing to do. You've violating his privacy & trust.

This is a slight gray area, on the one hand he can claim defamation of character, but on the other hand, he said all that in a chat which is neither private nor secure.
I doubt he could make any charge stick since if you read your EULA for any chat program it tells you that the chat is not secure and not private because your going through the internet.

Personally I would nail his hide to the wall.

legally, yes, because you need his acceptance to use information that you received in private. However, there is the possibility show that girl the conversation, if you access that information from your pc, without sending it to another mail.

It would just irritate him. You would not be charged with anything any more than you would be for not keeping a secret.

No, it's your conversation too. If he didn't want anybody to find out, he shouldn't have said anything. I'd send it.
