I won't be checking my answers until I've seen it, so don't worry about including plot spoilers.

The reason I am asking this question is because when I've seen a film I always like to compare my opinion to others; and my boyfriend won't watch it because he says it's a bit gay.

Why is it the people who give stupid answers can't be contacted?

It's not only a bit gay - it's about a character that was completely and openly gay and falls in love with a man and has a relationship with another man. People in the film at first sight notice he's gay and act accordingly - some of them then find out he's 'ALSO' a human being and change their attitude, some don't. It's not only a film about writing In Cold Blood but also about people's prejudices - about cruelty - one way or the other. But, sure, you don't see much of his boyfriend - unluckily.
I loved that movie - I loved to see someone playing Truman Capote (great performance by P.S.H.), Harper Lee and many more persons of the important literature scene of those days. It made me cry. The main moral question of that movie is fascinating - How far are you willing to go? Exploiting a person you in a way fell in love with but then again all you want is his story because you know it's going to be your literary masterpiece and you know you'll never write a better story and besides the world will admire you... And how far are you willing to expose yourself? Recognizably gay, now living in liberal NY - 'visiting' a rather rural areal - that's the stuff of which other directors/script writers would make a slasher movie. Hard to watch - courageous idea - intelligent motive - heart breaking!

The movie is mesmerizing, it's so awesome to see a movie about the creation of a revolutionary book like "In Cold Blood." Just because Capote was gay himself, that doesn't mean the movie is "gay," or has a "gay" theme to it. The movie is about murder, justice, irony, and the making of one of the greatest works of literary art in the twentieth century - if you think that's "gay" then you are sorely mistaken.

Also, the performance by Philip Seymour Hoffman is outstanding. You know someone did their research on a character and played the part to a T when you forget it's an actor throughout the movie. Amazing movie and an amazing book.

Very good movie but depressing. It is worth seeing just for Philip Seymour Hoffman's performance. Capote was gay however his being gay plays very little in the movie. It is mainly about his friendship with one of the killers.

It was alright, not as much as the artsy fartsy critics hyped it up to be. It's basically just about how Truman goes about writing the novel in Cold Blood, and the close relationship he developed with one of the murderers.

I really like it. I thought it was well written and philip seymour hoffman did excellent in that roll. he really made you start to hate capote in the begining and then later feel a lot of pity for him.
