What? As far as I'm aware, Labour haven't abolished marriage yet!! The fact is, society is changing, and more people are co-habiting before getting married, or not getting married at all. I don't think it's a bad thing, it's just that society is changing. As a Christian, I felt it important to get married rather than just live together, but not everyone has those religious beliefs. It's the commitment two people make to each other that is important, not the bit of paper. And I know too many people that have 'married in haste and repented at leisure' to feel that marriage is the answer for everybody.

Is it a question of NEED or WANT? I think general people want family morals and vows of marriage to be clearly defined. This holds society together through a common thread, sort of like different religions. If they didn't exist, then that would mean that no rules exist. No rules to govern relationships would ultimately prove to be disastrous to the whole entire family structure. This would happen because we would not know which roles we play or how to properly play those roles. Etiquette exist in order for us to live together peacefully and respectfully and family morals and marriage vows were established as Etiquette between lovers (be that homo or hetero relationships). What would life be without the family structure intact?

Like anything in life we need rules to make life easier and better so morals is the rules of the society and it's fiber without morals there is no actual meaning to life and it'll drown in chaos. There is no total freedom we have to respect the rules and morals of the society where we live in.

It most certainly is. You could write at length on this one. We have a radical, if not revolutionary, totalitarian government. It is full of man hating feminists, they have put the traditional family under threat in order to promote the economic independence of women at any cost. This also helps them achieve another of their objectives, which is, increased direct control over the upbringing of our children. The family unit, as understood by Communist states, is a threat to totalitarian control, because it puts loyalty to family before loyalty to state. Empowerment of minority groups against the majority, is another tactic used to divide and control society. Bossy nannying edicts, such as complete smoking bans, helps to turn one section of society against another. There are many other similar initiatives, watch out for them. Religion will come under attack, because it promotes, amongst other things, family values. Again, they can't stand that, because it is something the state can't control. That is why Communist Russia suppressed religion. The government doesn't believe in the 'Nation State', that is why we have unchecked immigration: they don't regard us as having borders. Also, that is why they are quite happy to hand us over to the EU.

I could go on forever on this one, but I will spare you.

Yes we do. I seems to me that a normal family unit, made up say of mother, father 3 or 4 children is completely ignored, they are not encouraged at all, the normal working man and woman supporting a family get the worst deal of all,,,,

Marriage is not the only way to raise children. And I don't support or vote Labour.

we need morals and it starts with the family and there is no better start as when the couple are married to begin with a loving relationship can go a long way in teaching children about morals

We don't need politicans to dictate what is and what is not moral.
We decide what is right for ourselves.

Is your question do we need marriage? Or is it do we need men and women to marry in exclusion of gay couples? You need to be more explicit.
