thank goodness most of the answers are no so far. im from kentucky and actually wanted to see how much of the 'rumored' tales were true.

There are a lot of country people in Kentucky; these people are more down to earth. A hick or hillbilly is truly an annoying redneck. Many places in Kentucky aren't what you call "hick" or "hillbilly" communities w/ the exception of a few places (cough*Corbin*Knox County*cough).

I'm a native Californian, but have moved to Kentucky, and have found the people out here to be some of the nicest, most pleasant people I have ever met. There's only a small portion of "hillbillyism" out here (*cough*rockcastlecounty*cough* j/k j/k), but far less than you'd expect.
But the same thing applies with the Kentuckians... they tend to believe everyone in California is either gay, a billionaire, or is/knows a movie star.

I say no. I mean, there are cities in Kentucky; it's not all country and mountains. I admit, I'd expect most Kentucky-raised people to have a slight accent, but that doesn't mean they're country.

There are hick from every where. not just kentucky ..when I think of kentucky I think of blue grass I lived in Amarillo texas ..my year and half in hell I hated the place ..man I was I so happy to see that kentucky blue grass..its so green..cheer up..you got a great state and worse you can be from jersey...or texas....i love the way you southern girls talk..I talk to alot of them at work and man I hope they are as cute as they sound...there are worst places be from...

No, I friend who lives down there and he doesn't have the same characteristics of a 'Hick' or a 'hillbilly".
