I'm shopping for a new gamecube (the old one broke) and I'm wondering if I should spend the extra money on a new one, or if a refurbished one would be as good. Cause then I could save some cash.

used means used. refurbished means it was used or returned and was repaired to make it like new.

refurbished can mean anything from open box return to something more severe like somethnig was damaged and needed to be fixed. it's a crap shoot really. someone could've simply returned it bcuz there was a minor scratch on it or something. someone could also have returned it due to sever damage and you'd never know the difference.

Refurbished means the item was purchased, returned because of a problem, then sent to a repair house, fixed, and then sold again, once stamped refurbished, by law it can not be sold as new even after repairs have been made, this is where the consumer makes out getting the product at a reduced price, I've been told when an item is refurbished it is gone over with a fine tooth comb, two years ago I purchased cell phones they were r/f they looked like new and were in perfect working condition, only difference was they came in a plain cardboard box, its as simple as that.

Used is usually "as-is". Refurbished - the company takes the equipment and checks it out/tests it, and any parts missing or not working are replaced (not necessarily with new parts, every company is different.) Some companies will guarantee the equipment. Make sure you read the fine print on the warranty.
Good luck.

Refurbished means it was gone over and possibly fixed up. I'd get a new one.

Used is just that: used before by someone else. Refurbished is one that has been fixed.

A refurbished system is a system that it was cleaned inside out, ridding it of impurities.
A used system is a system that was cleaned and sold as is.

Get a refurbished one because it was used and cleaned again.

Used is just used, refurbished is used then fixed back up.

Used it just that...used, still works...was probably traded in for newer model.
Refurbished is either it was broken in some way and fixed or modified.
