Most people that will tell you it doesn't work, haven't tried it. Most people I know that have tried it, swear it works. Just give it a shot. It's not like it will kill you.

Chinese medicine uses a different philosophy to Western medicine. Both have their benefits and their disadvantages. For some people accupuncture works, for some it doesn't - just like Valium and Prozac (but less habit forming).

Using the Western model, accupuncture works by confusing the nervous system. Touch overrides pain - that's how massage and scratching work. It's quite possible that it could have an effect on depression and anxiety. Since there are no side effects (the beer doesn't really leak out of the holes), it's worth a try.

TCM(Traditional Chinese Medicine) has been around for 5000 years! Acupunturists believe in treating the whole person not just the "anxiety:..etc. Each individual suffering from anxiety or depression has unique characteristics from the next person. Therefore, an Acupunturist will treat you with a complete individualized treatment. Chinese medicine to some, seems far out and weird...but something that has been around for 5000 years and has the research & science to back it should be taken seriously. So if anxiety/depression is a "chemical imbalance" why do so many Doctors treat it with more chemicals? I would try acupuncture before subjecting your body to dependence of more chemicals!! Compare the side-effects of acupunture to taking anti-depressants..I wish you all the best..

Oh it works. It just wouldn't cost people as much, so modern medicine won't use it. Just like how the egyptians used to put honey on a closed incision after a surgery to prevent an infection. Modern medicine won't catch on to that, cause it would put alot of anit-botic companies out of alot of business.

Anyway, acupuncture works because your mind is well connected to all the innerworkings of your body. If a certain part of your body is being attacked or injured, a simple connection to a particular nerve will jar the brains special senses and functions. This in turn tells the brain to do things like release chemicals such as endorphines. Whether or not it is a placaebo effect, it doesn't matter, because it works. In fact, the scientists have not been able to prove that it is a placaebo effect in any case, but they have proven efficacy for headache, low back pain and nausea.

I have used Chineese Medicine and accupunture, for a more phyisical aliment but i found it worked very well. The tea itself was nasty but i did feel the difference.

Crystal healing is also a good option for treating depression.

But it all depends totally on the person. What works for someone else may not work for you.

Of all of So-Called Alternative Medicine (or SCAM), Acupuncture may actually have something to it. Although it isn't what it's practitioners will tell you.

There have been probably more studies on acupuncture than on any other SCAM philosophy since it was first popularized in the West in the early 1970's with reports that it was being used as a general anesthetic for surgery in China. (FYI , that was false...never happened...Urban Legend)

What recent studies have shown is that there is some sort of neural effect when needles are stuck into your skin. However it has nothing to do with chakras or meridians, as sham acupuncture (untrained peoples sticking needles into random areas) was just as effective as that done by practitioners of traditional chinese medicine. (so much for that 5,000 years of experience)

The effect however is quite minor, and while some people do respond to acupuncture for some kinds of chronic pain, others don't. There is no evidence at all that sticking needles in your skin can treat your depression/anxiety....although maybe it will distract you for a while.

As with all SCAM treatments, there is a lot of mumbo jumbo and pseudoscientific bullshit that goes along with it.All part of preparing you psychologically. Those who have alternate beliefs of all sorts are more likely to "benefit" from acupuncture than others, as a lot of the treatment is in your own subconcious mind

If I need surgery or a painful procedure, I will opt for morphine and Propofol. More reliable and titratable.

I have never heard of it working. I think it is all in a person's mind. Also depression and anxiety are usually due to chemical imbalances in the brain. I don't think sticking needles in your body can help change the level of these chemicals. Stick to medication and/or counseling. People today get embarressed over having depression/anxiety. But these conditions happen to a lot of people and they should not be ashamed to seek treatment for them. There are lots of doctors, medications, and therapists that can help with these disorders.

There are multiple kinds of disorders that deal with anxiety. Although most can manifest in similar ways, these disorders generally occur due to different events in your life. Natural home remedies for anxiety https://tr.im/LU2KM
Generalized anxiety disorder includes persistent and unnecessary worries about everyday, common events or activities, which can disrupt concentration and lead to other issues, such as depression.

Well it worked for me. I was totally stressed out and it really calmed me down. I do think, however, you also have to work on the stuff that gets you stressed out or depressed. Acupuncture will sort out the symptoms of your stress, but if you do nothing about the reasons for your stress, then the symptoms will come back. Being calmer will help you get to the root of your stress or depression so I think acupuncture is very help full.
