I've seen stars that move in the sky at a noticeable speed and at the end, disappear. What could be these moving objects, maybe satellites or stars? Maybe someone have seen these kind of movement and knows what it is?

Sounds like satellites to me, too. Most look like a star with average brightness, but they move. If you see one disappear before it reaches the horizon, that is because it has entered Earth's shadow (a satellite shines by reflecting sunlight). They move much slower than a meteor ("shooting star"). Airplanes blink, so you can rule them out, too, plus the headlight of an airplane is very bright, much brighter than the stars.

Here's a website that will tell you where and when you can look for some satellites, particularly the International Space Station: http://www.heavens-above.com/

I have also seen these, I know exactly what you are talking about, and yes, they are satellites. They stay in the sun's light long enough to reflect light back to us and that is the glowing thing that you see. Satellites move pretty fast. I know, at first I was very puzzled, but then I put the pieces together and, obviously it couldn't have been anything else, because I se one of those very often. And trust me, you WILL NOT see a star moving unless you stayed out all night and recorded a star in a certain spot and an hour or so later went and checked up on it again, and it has moved. The chances of you see a star move is likely to none.

Ignore Mats answer. SOme people just guess, and that can confuse people who really want to learn.

To the naked eye, comets never appear to move across the sky. If a comet was that close that you could see it moving, you had better duck for cover.

What you are seeing are Satellites.

The stars are so far away that they are "fixed" as far as the naked eye is concerned. The stars are indeed moving - everything is moving out there. But it will take 100s or 1000s of years for you to discern any movement in the stars.

If I remember rightly, the star that has the fastest apparent motion (Barnard's star), moves about the apparant width of the moon in a century. Of course, in reality the star is moving billions of miles in that time.

People have to get a sense of the scale of things out there.

What you are seeing that "moves" across the night sky, but appears as a star that is moving, is actually satellites. You can also see the International Space Station move across the heavens in the night sky if you're in the right location at the right time...something that I've seen many times when out with my telescopes at night. One evening in particular while looking through my scope, the ISS crossed directly through my field of view, and filled the entire lense...with a sparkling gold-tint in color. Hundreds of satellites cross the sky throughout the night, and you only have to be patient and watch the sky for a short peroiod of time, before actually spotting one.

you have seen asteroids burning up in the atmosphere. that happens all the time, especially often in this time of the year, when the Leonide Asteroid Swarm draws near to earth.

or maybe you have seen an aircrafts positionlighting or maybe headbeam. stars, even planets move too slow to notice and the only satellite observable with the unaided eye is the ISS spacestation.

You are right and right. If they move "slowly" they are satellites. If they are fast and disappearing most probably they are meteorites, simply dust or small pebbles entering earth's atmosphere.

Stars are so far away that you will not see them move in your lifetime.
