i run a 3-4 defense for run and nickle for pass

Relisticly you want more of a man coverage to stop running plays because zones will get eating up depending on what zone you run. They do have zones where a couple of the linebackers will blitz and disruput all of that but you have to be careful. There is no set play on what stops the run and what stops the pass. Zone and man coverage are both vulnerable, you just have to know what the weaknesses are.
To put things in a nutshell, I would say use man to stop the run and zone to stop the pass. Start off with that then you will find your nack for tweaking the defense, good luck
