Haha I always believed in old fashioned gender rolls and having the male in charge, until I went to college and took a sociology class. Then I started to believe that we are equal, and I want to be independent and get a job as a lawyer. Well, I thought that was pretty aggressive, and that I was a "feminist" because of that. Then I went to a different college and went to the club fair, and the feminist club had a booth, and they were for things like pro-choice and handing out condoms and other really extreme things. Now I don't consider myself a feminist anymore lol.

Amsheagar... I'm surprised you recieved so many thumbs down when you were actually answering the question "what is a feminist" It isn't just one thing. It is several movements with many components and you stated it rather perfectly.

Feminism is a diverse collection of social theories, political movements and moral philosophies, largely motivated by or concerned with the experiences of women. Most feminists are especially concerned with social, political and economic inequality between men and women; some have argued that gendered and sexed identities, such as "man" and "woman," are socially constructed. Feminists differ over the sources of inequality, how to attain equality, and the extent to which gender and (identities) should be questioned and critiqued. In simple terms, feminism is the belief in social, political and economic equality of the sexes and the movement organised around this belief.
Feminist political activists commonly campaign on issues such as reproductive rights (including the right to safe, legal abortion, access to contraception, quality prenatal care), violence within a domestic partnership, maternity leave, equal pay, sexual harassment, street harassment, discrimination and rape. Many feminists today argue that feminism is a grass-roots movement that seeks to cross boundaries based on social class, race, culture and religion. They also argue that an effective feminist movement should be culturally specific and address issues relevant to the women of the society in question (eg, female genital cutting in Africa or the glass ceiling issue in developed economies), and debate the extent to which certain issues such as rape, incest and mothering are universal. Themes explored in feminism include patriarchy, stereotyping, objectification, sexual objectification and oppression.

A Feminist is a woman who hates men and is generally angry at the world. I find that women are in charge and have been since the dawn of time. Ever heard the saying "men run the world and women run men". Anyhow, I wish women would stay feminine, they can be smart and womanly at the same time.
Feminist are evil.

G'day J
Thanks for your question.
According to the American Heritage Dictionary on Yahoo, a feminist is a person whose beliefs and behavior are based on feminism. It defines feminism as:
1. Belief in the social, political, and economic equality of the sexes.
2. The movement organized around this belief.
Feminist political activists commonly work on issues such as reproductive rights (including the right to safe, legal abortion, access to contraception, quality prenatal care), violence within a domestic partnership, maternity leave, equal pay, sexual harassment, street harassment, discrimination and rape.
I attach sources for your reference which will provide more information.

A feminist is someone who fights for the equal rights of women and also fights the oppression that women are dealt when it comes to common social stigmas that go along with "traditional" gender roles.

A FEMINIST is someone who becomes very angry when women do not do what feminists tell them to do.
They are also very forgiving of men who get drunk and kill women, so long as their last name in Kennedy.
