I suffer from this too, its a real pain, seem to get it more at night time, to the extent it keeps me awake. I've found that running cold water on them for a few minutes seems to work, the Body Shop peppermint foot spray is good for a cooling effect. Try keeping your feet out of bed.
As for it being hereditary, I think so, as my Mother and daughter also suffer from it.
Good luck, if you find anything that helps let me know, I'd be grateful. x

been living in southern Africa for the last 4 years. 'Hot Hot' as you can imagine! On the worst nights the only way i survived was to run a bath in the early evenin and at about 2 am and again at 5 am I would hop into it and ten get back into bed dripping wet - with wet hair.

That DID help with hot feet - but by far the best thing was buying a cheap hot water bottle and filling it with ice cold water, popping it in the freezer for 3-4 hours and then putting it on your feet.

After 3-6 months you may find the 'hot' water bottle isnt so effective, hence the need to only buy new ones.

Another thing is propping your feet up - to slow down the blood flow which heats up your feet.

I do fear it is inherited - its about blood circulation in relation to extremities. I suffer from hot feet - and (funnily enough) at the same time, a freezing cold bum! My father, myself and my toddler daughter have exactly the same and people often comment on it (not that I let strangers fondle my feet or bum too often!)

I suffer with hot feet. I sit on the side of the bath and run the cold tap over them or get the shower head and do the same. I don't know if it's a condition or just unlucky. Body shop peppermint foot lotion is good too as well as body shop foot spray.

Ask your doctor about an exercise routine. Regular exercise, such as walking three times a week, may reduce neuropathy pain, improve your muscle strength and help control blood sugar levels. Gentle routines such as yoga and tai chi might also help.

I would love hot feet. Mine are permanently cold. Do you think if we got together the kids would be just right?
