No! Most schools dont offer scholarships baised on the admission essay. They often require an additional application for scholarships.

If it's an admission essay then it's purely for admission only.

If it's an open essay, then it's for any and everything.

Usually the scholarships that require an essay as for an outside competition.

No -- it is a way for them to see if you might fit in.

If you have great grades and scores, but write a messy letter -- they will reject you. If you are on the border as far as grades & SATs go, but you write a great essay -- then you will probably get in.

You might want to look on the web to see what good essays look like. Don't copy them -- but use them to give you an idea of what you should write. They want to see the real you -- so don't tell them what you THINK they want to hear -- it is probably wrong.
