I recently moved into a new apartment and there is like 20 years of grease buildup on the cupboards above the stove. It's not visible, but it's sticky and gross. Any suggestions how I can remove it?

If you want to use something natural all you need really is vinegar and baking soda. Combine with using dish washing liquid and it should do the job.

For a really quick cleaning job on tough grease use a spray cleaner called Spray 9 (in Canada) and I think it is called Spray 409 in the US. You can just spray and wipe - literally - but it is a very strong chemical. It does a super job though - no elbow grease needed.

I hope this helps.

Parson's All Purpose Ammonia will do the trick and not ruin your cabinets. It's cheap and easy to find. You can get it at walmart, jewel or where ever you get cleaning supplies. Just make sure that you can have windows open or at least a fan going. It's strong smelling stuff! But your cabinets will look great. It's fantastic on greasy and stubborn stuff. I use it all the time.

Ajax will break it down. Be careful, not sure what color your cabinets are you might want to try a hidden place first. Other than that, use dish liquid to cut the grease. Good luck! I can see it and you have my pity!

Go to Smart & Final & look at the degreasers in the cleaning chemicals aisle. It comes in various brands such as 409 and possibly Simple Green (not sure).

It's strong, so if you use it wear gloves.

I use Dirtex cleaner made by the Savogran Company for everything. No streaking and no rinsing. A little pricey and hard to find though worth it.

Try vinegar with a scrubbing pad. If your cabinets are painted it might be better to use the vinegar with a regular cloth.
