Yes, this is evidenced by the fact that i used to have a laptop about 2 years ago with a floppy drive, i have just bought a new laptop about a year ago and it doesnt have a floppy drive, and to be honest i have never said : "oh my god i NEED a floppy drive", the need for it never never ever arose, and if it didnt arise in the past year, it is highly unlikely to be needed in the next couple of years. Besides its only 1.44MB, i mean nowadays people carry around tons of info, and a single powerpoint presentation is usually alot more than 1.44, so it makes sense that the floppy was phased out to make way for a more ingenious method of storage. Its just the way life goes. pen drives used to only come in 32 and 64, now if u have a 128 people stare at you :), i myself love the multi-functionality of my 4GB ipod :)

The old must always give way to the new, its just the circle of life, and some people choose to keep up and some dont, im sure there are still people out there who refuse to get dvd players to replace VHS.
everything serves its purpose....

I believe that floppy disks may have already died out. When I was buying a computer a few weeks ago, most of the models didn't even come with floppy disk drives.

Well floppy disks are becoming less common, due to other better alternatives such as pen drives, but floppy disks are still being used by people. But to answer your question, yes they are dying out and soon they will be completely replaced.
